Fire-extinguishers

Fire extinguishers

The fire extinguisher is a first-response tool reserved for the public and security personnel. It is used to control the start of a fire by spraying an extinguishing agent. They are all red.

They must be:

  • Visible and numbered
  • Easily accessible
  • There are two types of fire extinguishers:
  • Constant pressure
  • Auxiliary pressure
  • They are positioned so that the maximum distance
  • to reach an extinguisher does not exceed 15 m.

ABC Powder Extinguisher

The powder extinguisher extinguishes all classes A, B, and C (gas) fires. ABC powder is the most suitable extinguishing agent for fires originating from all types of fuels, whether solid, liquid, or gaseous. It is also effective against wood, fabric, and paper fires. It acts by smothering, preventing oxygen from activating the fire.

Water Spray Extinguisher

Cooling action on Class A fires due to fine water droplets which, upon contact with the fire, vaporize and absorb the heat released.

CO2 Extinguisher

The CO2 or dry ice extinguisher extinguishes Class B and electrical fires up to 1,000 volts. Being a non-conductor of electricity, it is therefore best suited for fires involving a live conductor (do not bring the nozzle or body of the extinguisher near the live conductor). The CO2 extinguisher is effective on flammable liquids and burning grease. It leaves few residual traces...
