Armed Fire Hose (AFH)
A fire hydrant (FH) is a water-fed first aid device for firefighting, usable by qualified or unqualified personnel.
A FH is called a fire hydrant because it is permanently supplied by a water source and is ready for use (the hose is under water, but not under pressure).
The purpose of a FH installation is to enable an initial emergency response in firefighting, while waiting for emergency resources to be deployed.
Unless this is not possible, FHs must be supplied by a pressurized water line served by public water mains.
